Who is this class for? This is an adult only class, Parent/Child session will be available soon, send me an email if you would like to enquire regarding this session.
How long is the class? 3-3.5 hrs
How many in a class? 4-6 per session
Where is the class held? at our studio/kitchen at 4 Charlcott Street, Burnside Christchurch
Whats covered in the class?
-
Chocolate Immersion: We'll explore local, bean-to-bar producers in NZ and I'll share my secret stash of delicious chocolates (because tasting is a crucial part of the learning process).
-
Hands-on Fun: Get ready to roll up your sleeves! Each student will be given a heart shaped mold with 5x cavities. You'll try your hand at every step of the process, decorating with coloured cocoa butter, shelling (filling the molds) to capping (sealing the chocolates) and, of course, eating.
-
Sweet Rewards: Take home a box of 5 beautifully decorated, heart-shaped chocolates you crafted yourself.
What we won't cover in this class?
-
Tempering Torture: Tempering chocolate is a science, and honestly, a whole class on its own. We'll use the seeding and silk methods for efficiency.
-
Airbrush Artistry: This is for the advanced chocolatiers! I'll give you a demo of how I use it professionally, but for this class, we'll focus on fun and achievable techniques. After all, I started with a brush and a mold, just like you!
-
Filling Frenzy: Time constraints are a reality. We'll focus on easy fillings like pralines and basic ganache using single origin chocolate. For convenience, some pre-made fillings like caramels, fruit gels will be available for piping.
What fillings will be used?
As a plant-based business, we'll be using delicious nut butters, speculoos paste, salted caramel and biscuits for all fillings. No butter, cream, or milk will be used during the class. However, we will be using various nuts like hazelnuts, almonds, and pecans. Please let us know of any allergies before the class (SOY, NUT AND GLUTEN).
What should you wear in the class?
Be Comfortable and Creative! This is a hands-on class, and chocolate can get messy. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a little stained with cocoa butter. For safety reasons, please wear closed-toe shoes. Aprons will also be provided.
Can you book a session for a group? Yes, Please send us a DM to enquire
